This Thursday: Crossover Ceremony – Weather Plan Included!

Posted on May 4 2025 - 9:32pm

The big night is almost here! Join us this Thursday, May 8, for our Crossover Ceremony as we celebrate the achievements and growth of our Scouts.

Location: Shawnee Mission Park – Shelter #2
Time: Please arrive by 6:15 PM so we can begin promptly at 6:30 PM.

Each Scout will walk across our symbolic bridge to “cross over” to their next rank. It’s a meaningful and memorable tradition—so bring your cameras! We’ll end the evening with s’mores and fellowship!

What to Bring:

  • Your Scout in his uniform.
  • Your Scout’s new neckerchief (for the next rank they’re advancing into).

  • A slide (any standard slide works fine).

Weather Plan: If storms roll in, we’ll move the ceremony to the Sunflower Elementary cafeteria. We’ll notify families by 4:30 PM Thursday if we need to make the switch.

Bonus Opportunity: We’ll have leftover popcorn available at a reduced price of $10 per item—a great way to support the Pack and stock up on snacks! All proceeds help fund our events and activities.

We’re proud of all our Scouts and grateful for our dedicated Den Leaders who helped make this year a success. Let’s celebrate together—rain or shine!

Extra Popcorn Available – Special Price for Families and Friends!

Posted on Apr 20 2025 - 9:43pm

Hi Pack 3136 families,

We ended up with some extra popcorn stock after the fall fundraiser! Our original plan was to schedule a few Spring Show-N-Sells to help clear it out, but the spring calendar got a bit too packed for our adult leaders to make it happen.

Rather than let this popcorn go to waste, we’d love to offer it to our Pack families and Friends at a reduced price of just $10 per item. This is a great way to stock up on snacks and support the Pack—100% of the proceeds will go directly to our programs and events.

If you're interested in purchasing some, just message me, or we can connect at the Den meeting this week.

Also, we’re looking for a parent who could help organize our popcorn sales going forward. It’s a manageable role with big impact—we’ll provide all the guidance you need, and you’ll be helping make future activities possible for all our Scouts!

Thanks for your continued support and for making Pack 3136 awesome!

Yours in Scouting,

Andrew

This Week’s Pack Meeting and What to Know for Crossover on May 8

Posted on Apr 14 2025 - 7:52am

April 17th Pack Meeting

Each April, we dedicate time to teaching our Scouts about the importance of conservation, an essential part of being a good steward of the outdoors. This year, our focus is on pollinators and the vital role they play in supporting a healthy environment.

This Month’s Highlights:

  • A special guest speaker from the SMSD Broadmoor Urban Farm

  • Then, our Scouts will roll up their sleeves for a hands-on conservation projectplanting a pollinator garden in the LearnScape outdoor classroom.

Be sure to wear your Pack shirts!
Don’t stress if they get a little dirty...that’s what we’re all about in Cub Scouts! Dirt builds character...and pollinator gardens! Also while we're talking pack t-shirts, if you need to size up, we'll have shirts available at our May Crossover event.

Important location note:
Due to Kindergarten Kickoff happening inside the school, we’ll be outside the entire evening.
Please park in the usual spot and head to the LearnScape playground area behind the school.

What to Know for Crossover Ceremony - May 8th

Location: Shawnee Mission Park – Shelter #2

As your Scout prepares to cross over to the next rank, please come prepared with the neckerchief for their new rank (for example, if your child is currently a Lion, they’ll need a Tiger neckerchief for the ceremony). You may also choose to purchase the matching neckerchief slide, but a standard Scout slide works just fine too.

During the Crossover Ceremony, the Scouts will walk across a special bridge to symbolize their advancement to the next rank. Once they cross, we will present them with their new neckerchief—a meaningful way to mark their growth and accomplishments in Cub Scouting.

To wrap up the evening, we’ll enjoy S’mores to celebrate another great year in Cub Scouts!!!
